Honeycomb: The World Beyond Controls & Best Settings

Frozen Way has not published a full key list. These are the controls shown in launch videos and discussed on the Steam forum; default bindings may differ on your setup.

Common confusion: left click and E both interact, and the context menu is on left click rather than right click. Tools cannot be put away quickly, which a Steam reviewer called “awful”.

Controller

Full controller support is listed on Steam. Players on the forum report:

  • No button opens the map directly, and scrolling the map with a stick is slow.
  • Placed furniture cannot be moved; dismantle it for a full refund.

Steam Deck

Valve rates it Playable: default controls and performance pass, but some text is small. A player asked for a Deck control layout; none had been shared by 10 September 2026.

Settings that help

  • Ray tracing off: the biggest FPS gain (ProRogueBear: 40-45 to about 120 at 4K).
  • Blur effects off: “disable all the blurring related effects and then the game will look great” (Steam review). Bloom has its own toggle and motion blur a slider to zero, added after the 2024 demo.
  • DLSS 4.5 is supported.
  • HUD: can be trimmed down to nothing.
  • Arachnophobia mode: turns insects into white orbs.
  • Photo mode: poses, filters, lighting and stickers.

Camera

First person only. The developer said there are “some moments of 3rd person for whenever you’re using vehicles”. Several players asked for a third-person option because of motion sickness.

Crashes and bugs are covered in known issues.
