Honeycomb: The World Beyond Known Issues & Crash Fixes

From the Steam discussion forum and Frozen Way’s patch notes, 31 August to 10 September 2026. Frozen Way pinned a troubleshooting guide at the top of the forum and asks for reports there or on its Discord.

Fixed in Hotfix #1 (9 September 2026)

IssueFix
Crash when the crafting list tracked items from a storage that no longer existedFixed
The Building Minion quest could ask you to pin a blueprint while the Blueprints screen was lockedScreen now unlocks at that moment
Errors when quest logic ran before the character was readyExtra safety checks
Items in the inventory decayed very fastNow about half as fast
Voice lines with inconsistent volume and priorityAdjusted

Crashes on start-up

Some players crash before or just after the main menu, on high-end PCs too. What worked for others:

  1. Force DirectX 11. In the Steam library, right-click the game → Properties → Launch options, and type -dx11. Several players confirmed it; a few with an RTX 5080 or older Intel laptops still crashed.
  2. Check the pinned troubleshooting thread, which Frozen Way wrote after the demo.
  3. Players with Xeon CPUs asked whether the game needs AVX2; that had not been answered by 10 September 2026.

Still open on 10 September 2026

Performance

Ray tracing is the big cost. ProRogueBear went from 40-45 FPS to about 120 at 4K by turning it off on an RTX 4090. See the system requirements.

Did they use AI?

In the same Hotfix #1 post, Frozen Way said the intro cutscene was “made and fully rendered two years ago in 3DS Max” and that it “did NOT use AI whatsoever”.

Settings that help are in controls and settings.
