How Long Is Honeycomb: The World Beyond?
The estimates
| Playstyle | Time | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Quests, exploring thoroughly | Around 12 hours | Developer reply on the Steam forum |
| First playthrough | About 15 hours | Alidove (had the game before launch) |
| Crossbreed everything, find all secrets | 25 to 30 hours | A player on the same forum thread |
| ”Roughly 12 to 20 hours depending” | 12 to 20 hours | A Steam reviewer paraphrasing the developer |
The developer added a caution: “it’s hard to estimate, as everyone plays at their own pace. The 12 hours should cover most, if not all of the quests.”
What makes it longer
- Difficulty. Survivalist drains your stats faster; Space Hell adds permadeath. See game modes.
- Plant cycles. Plants take real time to reach a stage. Plant darts and automated grow beds cut the waiting.
- Completion achievements. Studying every plant, animal and geological item and making every hybrid are the long tail; all were under 2% two days after launch.
What the achievement rates say
On 10 September 2026, two days after launch, 0.4% of Steam players had one of the two finish-the-game achievements, 20.5% had survived a week without a knockout, and 9.5% had made an animal hybrid. See the achievements page.
Is the demo part of it?
The free demo ends after two hours or at a story milestone, and the developer confirmed demo saves carry over, so time spent in the demo counts. See the demo guide.
Is it worth the price for that length?
That is the most common value question in reviews. One positive Steam review thinks $30 “a tad high” and $20 would be fair; another reviewer passed 20 hours in the first two days. Price details are in price and bundles.
